The forum is having performance problems.

The cause of this is a heavy request load mainly from Brazil. Other sites that uses the same forum software is experiencing the same problem.

I do not think it is a malicious attack, but rather the result of "stupidity". It seems that some WEB crawler(s) are crawling our site. And due to some technicalities with "session ids", they believe that our site contains infinitely many pages (that's my theory), and are effectively down loading all pages again and again and .... If my theory is correct then I guess they will eventually realize that they are doing something wrong and stop the "attack".

Meanwhile we will try to figure out how to minimize the problems.

I believe the the forum is out of the storm and that it will perform as it should.
