The file downloads into my Downloads directory as Unconfirmed 810461.crdownload and then disappears.

Which browse do you use?

Currently, there is a problem with the download in the Edge browser:

You will have to say "Keep":

And in the next screen you must select "Show more" and then:

keep.png

And finally "Keep Anyway"

You may be able to help others by also performing the "Report this file as safe" procedure.

We are in the process of obtaining a stronger digital signature which will prevent this problem.

I tried Report as Safe but MSFT never got back to me.

What did work was to Right-click on the file, copy the link and open the link in Chrome to save the file. Chrome is my default browser.

MSFT Defender complained as usual.

After a successful download I ran the installer which told me to delete the prior version before installing.

Did that. Tried again & got the same message; rebooted and got same message.

Deleted 11x Examples next, tried to install again and got the same message.

I'm in a failed-install loop now. I haven't tried reinstalling the previous version yet.

No sign of Vip11 in Control Panel.
Now cannot install Vip 11.06 either.

Uninstall leaves files in C:\Users\hwpra\AppData\Roaming\Visual Prolog\11\...

I deleted them and tried to install, but get the same error message.

Take a look at the version numbers that are trying to be installed ... and what got installed by vpi1110.msi .

Apparently the VIP Launcher also needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled, too. That seems to solve the prior version issue.

The installation is Build 1110 but the build documentation in the IDE needs to be updated.

Yes, forgot to rebuild the IDE and compiler, because they didn't actually change in that build.

I installed this build 1110 (or actually 1109) when it "appeared" using this Check for Updates.

Now the "problem" is, that when I use Check for Updates, it offers the new build 1110 (probably because in reality the installed build is 1109). I suppose this offered build is the same "old" build 1110, because its size is exactly the same as the "previous" build 1110 had. The installing is rather time consuming, so I did not install this offered "version".

It might have been less awkward if VP had just provided a patch update of the affected PFC files for those of us who wanted to get a headstart on the changes coming with the next full release. This was the most time-consuming update I have done in a very long time.

We will see if we can solve those issues. We use a third party tool for creating the installers and unfortunately it is a bit difficult to understand how it actually works in different situations.

(Vip 1109 is now the latest version in check for updates).

I too have encountered the failure to install dialog box. I am confused by this discussion and concerned about the upgrade path. I for one will hold at version 1108 until a clearer upgrade pathway is provided.

Simple strategy that worked for me (but took some time to figure out):

1. Uninstall old version 11
2. Uninstall the Launcher
3. Right-click and Copy the Link when the upgrade dialog pops up in the IDE, then use Google Chrome to download that link.
