Visual Prolog projects & status ?

Unread post by Gildas Menier » 9 Jan 2010 12:58

Hi, happy new year to the VP staff & to the forum's fellows !

What is / are the status/projects for Visual Prolog ?

VP7.3 ?
VP 8 ?
64 bits ?
Linux support ?
Language evolution(s) ?
IDE evolution ?

Is there any not-so-top-secret information that can be shared ;) (even if it is published on this board, I swear I'll keep it secret ;) )

Best regards

to add to what Gildas asked:

what are the plans for the next VIP-ALC? At the 2008 closing, we talked about it being in Copenhagen in '10. (my May and June are rapidly being filled up with other commitments and my wife and I would hate to miss the ALC  )

The next version will be Visual Prolog 7.3.

Its number one new feature is generic classes and interfaces.

These have opened for a new set of collection classes, like sets and maps in several flavors.

Generic classes have also opened for a smarter generic model based treeControl. When working with the current treeViewControl (which will continue to exist) your nodes will become id's and you work a lot with these id's. The new treeControl contains nodes of whatever you decide (it is generic), and there are no id's at all (meaning that they are completely hidden from you).

A more elaborate list of changes will come together with the release.

After Visual Prolog 7.3 we will focus on 64 bit support.
