Built-in predicate reference?

Unread post by cthomasbailey »

Hi everybody,

Is there a comprehensive reference for VP's built-in predicates? Something similar to http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/ for Java or http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... .110).aspx for C#?

Thanks!

The information you look for is in the help file. But unfortunately, we have made the help system a little bit too clever, and forgot to provide a direct entry to that file.

Anyways, you can find the documentation in two different ways:
  • Directly on you disk typically here: C:\Program Files\Visual Prolog 7.5\doc\vip.chm (the first part may be different, but it in the installation directory).
  • Using the "clever" help system, by writing (for example) stdio in an editor, place the caret inside the word and press F1.
The "cleverness" of the help system is that it always considers the context, if you have placed the caret in the word "clauses" you will be brought to the language reference, etc. In earlier versions the language reference was also in the help file, so that action would also bring up the help file.
