Hi Olivier,

I use libxml2 with Visual Prolog and I am pretty satisfied with the perf. It provides a sax-like interface (and many goodies such as code page encoding, HTMl parsing etc.), you may want to give it a try.

Best Regards

Dear Chan, There is one think I use with extreme caution in Visual Prolog, because I know for sure it can produce memory leaks : I use to program graphic display with double buffering to avoid flickering. I allocate an image (pictureCanvas/getPicture), draw the graphics in it, then picdraw the image...

Hi James, This may help you (see the end of the page for a (temp) download link) : http://www.arsaniit.com/en/prolog-tools/menu-extension/opengl-v3d The code should provide more or less what you need (the selection is also implemented using a single pass one-color draw when the user clicks with an o...

You would be surprise how many web pages lack the meta with code page... IE tries to guess the code page and uses MLang (see MLang.dll) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa767865%28VS.85%29.aspx see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa741001%28v=VS.85%29.aspx and especially DetectInputCo...

Hi Tonton Luc & Thomas, 1. Finding the coding page of a web page is not an easy task. Most of the time, there is no tag for that (or not reliable). There are some code page sniffers that try to find the code given some n-gram statistics (ask google) and it is possible to use them within Visual Prolo...

Visual Prolog projects & status ?

Hi, happy new year to the VP staff & to the forum's fellows ! What is / are the status/projects for Visual Prolog ? VP7.3 ? VP 8 ? 64 bits ? Linux support ? Language evolution(s) ? IDE evolution ? Is there any not-so-top-secret information that can be shared ;) (even if it is published on this board...

Hi Daniel, I don't think this function exists in VP7.1 (but wait for the answer from Thomas to be sure). It is possible to perform such an access using underlying pointers in C (see the wiki for list structures) but I do not think it is the best way to perform (updating is a problem then). I would r...

Hi Luc, dumb (?) suggestion : load your binary with ReadBinary, replace the nulls by 32 (or any space value) / (binary:: search and setvalue ?), convert it back to a string and perform your test (?). (The best way would of course to have access to a kind-of grammar for your file and analyze it using...

my 2 cents... Had the same problem for another setup (not for Visual Prolog - so I think this may not be VP related): http://www.zolved.com/synapse/view_content/20113/Error_1316__A_network_error_occurred_while_attempting_to_rea then a clean reinstall of the microsoft installer made it : http://www.m...

Service in Visual Prolog : an example

I made a small set of predicates to ease the building of services in Visual Prolog. This may be a good start if you want to try services & service_api :

Well, I would find inadequate that some file/directory method should accept both and some not, unless a note is dropped in the documentation (I spent some time to figure out why makeDirectoryFromPath caused some trouble). Anyway, backslash or not, I don't care as long as the choice is coherent with ...

directory::makeDirectoryPath(Path) & backslash

makeDirectoryPath scans the backslashes (according to the source), so

Code: Select all

directory::makeDirectoryPath("c:\\hello\\testdir\\temp")
(which seems ok)

is not the same as :

Code: Select all

directory::makeDirectoryPath("c:/hello/testdir/temp")
(which won't work)
