Harrison,
A 'dumb' suggestion.

Have you tried breaking up the file being imported to see if you can do multiple successive file reads?

I had a situation years ago where I could not import the entire single file but if I broke into two, I could import everything using two reads.

PIE

Thomas,
Is the PIE still available for use in VIP, more specifically, in the PE version?

I am getting ready to teach an AI class and would like to use the PIE as an intro to Prolog (will also help introduce the VIP environment to some who have never seen it before  ).

Welcome back.

See: http://wiki.visual-prolog.com/index.php ... ence/Facts

:= is the assignment operator (for facts)
= is equality test if both are bound variables or assignment if one is free.

While I don't have a solution I can offer a suggestion that might help some. I've played this 'game' before and I find it challenging (but fun!). It is similar to Sudoku (each number can only be used once in a column or row) but with the added twist of summing the numbers. I suggest looking at the S...

Harrison, I would first verify that M8 tested it in 'user' mode and not Administrator mode. Win 10 has a lot more restrictions in that regard (as did Win7 compared to XP). I had a bunch of programs that worked perfectly in XP but would only run in Win7 (and above) in Admin mode (the application elev...

don't know for sure but it looks like it will just pull what ever is currently store in the memory location for the variable.

Sort of surprised though that you are not getting an 'unbound variable' error at compile time.

my half cent perspective: I never use the logical operators AND, OR within a clause to execute two different actions/results as they can be really problematic when trouble shooting. I always use extra clauses. (call it a personal preference :-) ) in the case of a(...) OR b(...) I would use what Thom...

Not sure about in VIP 7.5 but I could swear there used to be a clause to get the color directly from the pnt(X,Y). don't remember exactly but it was something like: Color = Win_GetPixel(Win, pnt(X, Y)) you provided the window handle and the coordinates and then retrieved the color. It's been quite a...

Looks like its from Turbo Prolog V2 or maybe PDC Prolog 3. :-)

Definitely need to review current syntax.

And yes Victor, Towers of Hanoi is easy to implement in the current VIP. Don't "over think it"

its been a while since i did any SQL

but I assume that the ? in the
StatementString = insert into PersonBin(name, age, birthday, longfield) values (?,?,?,?)
values section are replaced with bound variables or fixed values.

If not, the input string will error. As written, it looks like an attempt to create a blank record.
